i can identify so well with the crazed look of those guys in the bottom right corner. that's exactly how i feel. sleep was so bad last night that it's all i can do to keep my eyes open. my eyelids literally shake with the effort, which is ridiculous. and i keep dozing off trying to work, which is hard when you're working with complex lists -- i have to keep refinding my place WHICH IS GETTING VERY TIRESOME INDEED.

last night, i was the best daughter ever and went to get my parents' taxes done for them. thenewhope was the best girlfriend ever and came with me. and angela was the best tax associate ever and got everything finished in an hour. but seriously, that's devotion. not a lot of people would submit to the tax process a second time. i'm just THAT nice.

also, it's possible that i volunteered to write sga (teyla/elizabeth) for alien_altars. so that's funny, considering i've seen about 5 episodes of the show. but i, unsurprisingly, am desperately in love with elizabeth, as lame as people might think her, and teyla obviously is incomparable. also, i'm totally swept away by liz's s3 hair/makeup. yes.

in other news, still nothing from duke law or unc law. duke i've pretty much given up on. unc, we'll see. (hee, i rhymed.)

this weekend, hope and i are takinga very quick roadtrip. literally two days, down to virginia. but it will be nice! we are going to see my old chorus do a piece that i love and to go to an alumni party (yay bar and people i haven't seen in 8 years! YAY!). speaking of, tangleofthorns: i just rebought the malcolm dalglish cds of old, and i wondered if you wanted me to rip them and send them to you. i know you liked what i shared.

anyway, i have to go have a cigarette before i drop dead of tired.

i'm supposed to be writing my thesis proposal. so, of course, i'm doing things like following in nostalgia_lj's ohsothoughtful footsteps and making my list of the top ten(ish) best women in tv. i have been thinking a lot about women (well, more than usual) because of hesychasm's thoughts on slash and misogyny and the really dreadfully awful hermione in this hp harry/ron story. also, everybody in the world is talking about girlslash all of the sudden (good lord, do i HATE the word "femslash" or, godforbid!, "femmeslash.) and i find that interesting. you know, i think people don't like girlslash as much because there very often simply aren't two women on a show. like, i think this is a common problem. and, those of us who'll slash anything with a double-x? we'll take the two where we can get it but we like to have a little more of a choice.

but, say, what about west wing? lots of chicks there, but fairly little girlslash (well, fairly little that's any good...).

also, furies? how would you feel about dr. melfi/carmela?

but anyway. the best women. and also? "wymyn" or "womyn" looks stupid. it just does. don't use it.
